So much for that griped about locked bootloader preventing root access to the ROM, the Motorola Droid X has been rooted, so owners no longer have to be forced into using everything that has been thrown into the stock Moto ROM. The embedded video takes you through the process of performing the root.

This rooting method from Birdman does not gain access to the bootloader, so “aftermarket” ROMs are unsupported. With FroYo just around the bend, I see few incentives to muck around with other ROMs anyway.

oh hmm - wish I had a droid [lol] to attempt this on
or maybe i’ll get one when they figure out a rooting method that does gain access to the bootloader - for ease
