Stop the presses, Android nerds! Engadget writes that “a trusted source” has tipped the blog about the Motorola Droid 2’s launch date, and get this: we are barely 3 weeks away!

The Droid has missed its rumored July 13th FroYo update (so much for that “trusted source”), but its upgrade is surely arriving any day now. If Engadget and Droid-Life are to be believed, then many Verizon customers will have the Droid 2 in their pockets/purses/satchels/baskets/underwear by August 12th with Android FroYo onboard. It would likely be the first phone on the market to ship with 2.2.

I hope it will be released by that date - then I can upgrade possibly too

Do it. I would choose this over just about anything else. I would choose the original Droid over 99% of other Android phones.

I’m considering getting this as my droid phone.
