With the release of the Apple iPad, it’s only natural that other tablets and similar MIDs are springing up all over the place. According to this source, HTC has no immediate plans to be launching their version of an Android tablet. HTC’s PR manager Eric Lin, HTC needs to come up with a compelling tablet product that stands out above the rest in order for HTC to pursue a tablet.

He was quoted saying, “We are always looking at it, but, right now, the whole idea is that in order to be successful with a tablet, you need to have something compelling. And not just a compelling form factor.”

And that means HTC is happy to sit back and see what the rest of the market does first: “You need to find that compelling use, that compelling story, that one compelling feature. And we are not going to do anything until we have found that”, Lin said.

Sure this is kind of sad news to HTC fans, but at least when HTC does come out with a tablet, it will be great.

aww - a good thought though to build up ideas to make it a really good contender since other companies are attempting to do tablets right now too
will be excited to see what they come up with - since HTC is really making a name for themselves ^^ and their products
