So much for a July 15th launch, impatient Verizon is so excited about its Motorola Droid X that more than a few blessed buyers have received theirs in the mail. On a sad note, new orders for the Droid Incredible will ship on or after August 4th, after months of supply shortages.

Here is one of the lucky ones to get the Droid X over a week before its official release date.
On the flip-side, HTC has been squeezed by its AMOLED provider and cell phone rival Samsung, which has curtailed AMOLED display supplies for the Droid Incredible. HTC is forced to switch over to LCD as the screen for some (perhaps most) of its Droid Incredible units being manufactured from henceforth. Verizon lists the beloved Incredible’s availability as August 4th.
The limited AMOLED stock is especially baneful for HTC because it is hoping to establish itself above competitors Samsung and Motorola in the smartphone race. Unfortunately for all major handheld makers, the world’s leading display suppliers are Samsung and LG, both of which have vested interest in the same market as the competing companies to which they sell screens!
