Not long after Froyo’s been around, CNN reports that Android 3.0, otherwise known as Gingerbread will be available in the fall or winter of this year. I have my money on it releasing in the winter — unless eating gingerbread cookies in the fall is a tradition I’m unaware of. Google product manager, Gaurav Jain has said that music would be a major factor in the new version of Android and that its success is very important in Google.

Other details in the report state that like Windows Phone 7, the new version of the OS will come with a series of minimum hardware specs, in this case 1GHZ CPU, 512MB of RAM, displays from 3.5-inch and higher.

The resolution is going to be better too for devices with screens bigger than 4-inches.

While this sounds great, doesn’t it seem a little too soon to be releasing Gingerbread?
