BGR reports that some Verizon stores are closing by 4PM on Sunday, June 27th for an event that all employees must attend. No one knows what the meetings entail. The unprecedented closure for Verizon could be a company shake-up and/or the preparations for the launch(es) of the Motorola Droid 2 and/or Droid X.

For the sake of working class Verizon guys and gals, I hope that the “meeting” is not about lay-offs or cutbacks. Verizon, Google, Adobe, and Motorola are hosting a special Droid event on the 23rd to announce the Droid X and Droid 2, along with (probably) Flash 10.1 and FroYo.
