Not long after Virgin Mobile snatched North America’s debut of the HTC Legend, another Canadian GSM carrier has received the coveted aluminum unibody smartphone. Bell Mobility is selling the Legend for $79.95 with a 3-year contract or $399.95 CDN out the door, commitment free. Canada 2, USA zero.

Bell’s offering is more expensive than Virgin Mobile’s because for $350 plus the price of a basic 30-day contract ($25), one can get the Legend for $375 CDN. However, for Americans who want to import the smartphone, Bell’s is a hassle-free purchase.

Telus is giving away the rickety HTC Hero free of charge with a 3-year contract. My response is that Telus can keep the Hero and its jail-sentence.

Order your Legend from Bell.
