It has been a long time coming, but instructions on rooting the HTC Droid Incredible, along with the required files, are finally available for experimental types who enjoy trying various Android ROMs.

Read the drawn out thread at XDA Developers for a written tutorial and links to the files needed for rooting the Incredible. One of the reasons that rooting the Incredible has taken longer than usual is because the method itself is fairly complicated compared to other phones, so patience and the ability to follow guidelines are mandatory for the job.
