Denizens of Saskatchewan and Manitoba are out in the dark again, but the rest of urban Canada gets another major Android 2.1 smartphone before its prouder American friends. Virgin Mobile is selling the aluminum unibody HTC Legend, which has been out in Europe for sometime, for only $349.99 with a 30-day plan (essentially outright for as low as $375!) and $79.99 on a 3-year term.

Data (500Mb) and voice (200 minutes) smartphone plans start at $50 per month, while voice only (100 minutes) with unlimited text or caller display/voicemail is $25 monthly. The Canadian HSPA/GSM Legend - and the $425 higher-end Acer Liquid E - should make Americans rethink pricing plans for their Android smartphones (I am talking about you, T-Mobile).

Since the Legend has the same GSM bands as AT&T and TMO, Americans might want to import it.

Order it from Virgin Mobile.
