Mobile Syrup is reporting that Telus Canada has snagged the HTC Desire and has rebranded it as the Triumph. US Cellular is releasing the Desire in July, so the likelihood of a similar Canadian launch is high. More »

In an industry rife with court battles, no one should be shocked to hear that HTC, which was sued by Apple in March, countered with a lawsuit of its own yesterday, naming 5 specific patent violations. Sprint has announced that the HTC Evo 4G is shipping June 4th for $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate. Naturally, the price is for a 2-year contract with an extra $10 per month Premium Data buy-up gimmick, not including voice and data fees. More »


Verizon’s lower-end LG Ally (Iron Man 2 phone) is going to compete against T-Mobile’s similar HTC MyTouch 3G Slide. Like the Slide, the Ally has a slide-out QWERTY keypad, Android Eclair 2.1, and the same 600MHz Qualcomm CPU, but the LG sports a much higher-resolution LCD. From Ziggytek: Looking to take on AT&T;and the iPad, Verizon Wireless Chief Executive Lowell McAdam has told The Wall Street Journal that his company and Google are working on tablets. Whether the device runs Android, a smartphone OS, or Chrome OS, a cloud OS, is not known, but I would rather have the former. Imagine an 8-10″ slate that has 3G and voice calling on Verizon.
