Google’s official over-the-air Android 2.2 FroYo update for its only branded phone should be live within a few weeks, but for the impetuous and bored who own a Nexus One, you can install the new OS right now.

XDA Developers says that FroYo can be flashed onto a Nexus One that is a “non-rooted stock ERE27 system.”

Down the 44.4Mb file from Google’s server and flash your stock Nexus One, then, BAM! Enjoy delicious and sweet FroYo before any other smartphone. Droid Incredible, eat your heart out.
