Google’s I/O on day two brought a plethora of monumental announcements. The Android 2.2 FroYo SDK is now downloadable.
Some of the key improvements that FroYo brings over Eclair are outlined below:
1. Speed: Dalvik VM: Just-in-Time (JIT) Compiler boosts performance by 2-5 times over Eclair.
2. APIs and Services: Cloud to Device Messaging; Application Back-up API; Apps can be installed on SD Card (when enabled by programmers); Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot.
3. Browser: V8 Javascript Engine increases javascript rendering by 2-3 times.
4. Android Market: Automatic App Updating; Application Error Reporting.
