Nevermind that Froyo 2.2 is nearing release. The moment has finally arrived for Samsung’s Moment to be updated, as Sprint officially enables non-over-the-air Android 2.1 Eclair for the smartphone.
SDX-Developers broke the news. Manually downloading this clandestine file turns your Moment into Android 2.1 (see the video clip). Presently, there is no OTA upgrade for the Moment, but Sprint should roll that out quickly.
How sad is it that the G1/Dream and MyTouch 3G have not received their upgrades? Even worse, what excuse does Sony have for deferring its Android 2.1 Xperia X10 update until Q4? Props to Sprint for being responsible and timely.
