Google’s Goggles has unbelievable possibilities, but how well does 1.1 work? See a Nexus One try it with two samples: one short phrase and one long paragraph.
As of 1.1, Goggles does not properly translate lengthy sentences, but for a few words at a time and for common expressions, it is actually usable. The potential for Goggles is sky-high. No longer will travelers and tourists have to depend on paper translators or have to type in the words manually, but at the snap of a photo and a quick Google search, people can read foreign languages. Of course, you will need an Android smartphone with a data plan to use the program effectively.
