Well, it did not make the “before May” $179 goal, but the ARCHOS 7 Home Tablet is scheduled to ship by June at $199 for an 8Gb model.

Apparently, the 7 Home Tablet’s hardware has remained unchanged in spite of the price bump. It still has Android 1.6 and the tardy Rockchip 2808, but 200 clams does not buy too much these days. As always ARCHOS’ music and video codec support is excellent, so most of your media files should play –how swiftly to be determined.
