LG’s LU2300 just launched in South Korea on Tuesday, but rumors that the same phone is the American “Aloha” has been circulating since early April. Today, BGR claims that one of its “Verizon Wireless guys” is telling the blog that the Aloha, with the same specs as the LU2300, is about to be unveiled.
Boy Genius Report’s posts that the Aloha has “Android 2.1, 1GHz CPU, 5 megapixel camera with 720p video capture.”
However, the LU2300 hits Korean retailers with Android 1.6 and is not going to be upgraded to 2.1 until August, so if the Aloha is the same phone, it probably will not be released here before the Eclair update. Verizon already has the Droid Incredible, so a similarly priced Android smartphone that runs an older operating system is hardly enticing at present.
