After a lackluster start to the new year, HTC is hoping that a robust Q2 will propel the company to a resurgent finish to 2010. HTC had expected Q1 revenues to be lower than the previous quarter, but with the eagerly anticipated releases of the Desire, the Legend, and other unconfirmed Android smartphones in the spring and down the line, business should be bustling from here onwards.
Unlike many other phone manufacturers (LG in particular), HTC is remaining loyal to Microsoft and has the HD Mini in the pipeline. If internet buzz is any indication (and it is not always so), the Legend and the Desire will be tremendous hits for HTC, which desperately needs sales to pick up, having not released a new Android smartphone (excepting the Nexus One) since the HTC Hero.
There is also the very intriguing and persistent rumor that Sprint’s announced 4G WiMax smartphone will be the fabled HTC Supersonic, which would be a massive boon for the Taiwanese firm.
