Recently featured in a sultry Super Blow commercial, Motorola’s Devour is a very high profile Android smartphone that Verizon will be selling within the next few months. The VP of software design at Motorola takes us through a lengthy tour of the phone’s abilities.
Everything about the Devour cries “downgraded Droid.” The 1.6 Android version is a major disappointment for what is otherwise a solid mid-range machine. I hate it when good software is hampered by bad hardware or vice versa. The Devour seems well made and strikes a good balance between the higher and lower priced models of other companies, but Android 1.6 is just unacceptable in today’s world, even with MotoBlur. At least there is Flash Lite.
