UK store eXpansys is accepting pre-orders for April 12th deliveries of the Legend and the Desire by HTC. Amazon Germany has listed the Desire for €419.

T-Mobile UK has announced that it will carry the Desire beginning March 26th. Vodafone and O2 are the other rumored carriers for the Desire, but nothing else is known about the Legend.

eXpansys’ prices include VAT. If American prices can match the £340.42 pre-tax ($462) Legend, then this is great news because that would be appreciably cheaper than the Hero that it replaces.

When Windows Phone 7 and iPhone 4G models arrive, these Android devices will have to be more competitively priced. $500+ for a smartphone is too much money in this economy, particularly since we know that the Nexus One and the Motorola Droid cost well under $200 each to manufacture.
