HTC’s replacement for the Hero has been shown in quality renderings before, but today, Engadget snapped the Legend in the metal. Supposedly, the Legend will run Android 2.1 and be blessed with an AMOLED display.

As formerly suggested, the Legend looks like it has an all aluminum body and of course, HTC’s Sense UI. The best news is probably that it will run Android 2.1 Eclair. While the CPU is not a major boost over the Hero’s 528 MHz, it is an upgrade regardless. Gone is the trackball, which has been replaced by an optical trackpad.

- 3.2″ AMOLED HVGA Screen
- Qualcomm MSM 7227 600MHz
- 512Mb ROM, 256Mb RAM
- 5MP Camera
- WCDMA/HSPA: 900/2100MHz
- GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900MHz
- 1300 mAh Battery
- microSD, Bluetooth 2.1, Wireless b/g, GPS, FM Radio, 3.5mm Headphone Jack
- 112 x 56.3 x 11.5mm
