By nprussell, VillainROM 1.2 is an Android 2.1 ROM with HTC Sense UI enabled for the Hero. HTC is not releasing a patched version of 2.0 until March, and there is no word on 2.1, so VillainROM 1.2 is the only way to experience Eclair 2.1 on your GSM Hero for now. CDMA versions (Sprint and Telus) are not supported.


There are reportedly some minor bugs, and Live Wallpaper is not implemented yet, but most applications and functions work smoothly. Some more work must be done to iron out the kinks, but most users claim that the ROM is really speedy and stable.

I do not endorse flashing or rooting your smartphone because doing so violates manufacturer warranties and could brick your device. Use at your own peril.
