Nexus One Coming to Walmart Wireless

Walmart Wireless is listing the Google Nexus One as “Coming Soon.” This could be a good strategy for Google to showcase its phone to a much wider audience, as opposed to…none.

Since the Nexus One is available only online and through T-Mobile presently, few consumers can play with the device before making the commitment to purchase it. Perhaps Google has always intended to retail the Nexus One at Walmart, but maybe the lackluster sales figures to date has compelled the company to sell through America’s largest chain of stores.

If the Nexus One actually makes its way into Walmart locations, sales should improve substantially.

UPDATE: Walmart has denied that the Nexus One is coming to its stores. In fact, Google insists that the Nexus One will be sold only online through its store for the foreseeable future. Good job to the website for accidentally listing an item for sale when it was never going to happen.
