On Monday, LG released its InTouch Max GW620 (which is the same Eve out in Canada since fall 2009). Motorola has announced that the first South Korean Android 2.0 smartphone, the Motoroi will be available in February, with a planned American launch one month afterwards. Meanwhile, in February, Gigabyte is going to release its first Android smartphone in Russia.

The InTouch Max is selling for a 24-month contract with T-Mobile at £20 a month (with unlimited data) and and 18-month contract with Virgin Media for £22 a month (with unlimited texts and data). Tragically, the alluring InTouch, like the Eve, is mired in Android 1.5 Cupcake. Based on LG’s vague stance regarding the Eve’s upgradability, I would avoid this LG until the company makes a firm commitment.

Motorola’s Motoroi is an impressive Android 2.0 smartphone sporting a large 3.7 inch WVGA (capacitive) LCD with multi-touch:
- ARM Cortex-A8 550MHz CPU
- 8Gb ROM, 256Mb RAM
- 8MP Xenon flash camera with 720p video capture
- GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, UMTS850, UMTS1900, UMTS2100
- microSD, Bluetooth 2.1 + Enhanced Data Rate, Wireless b/g
- HDMI 1.0 output.
- 2.4 x 4.6 x 0.4 inches

The Motoroi appears cool and one-ups the Nexus One in some areas (camera), but I still would rather have 2.1 with Google support, not to mention OLED and Snapdragon. Is that 8Gb ROM a typo? I would have preferred more RAM over ROM.

Gigabyte is expected to begin selling its Android 1.6 powered Gsmart in Russia for the equivalent of $300 USD. Sorry, but I yawned at this revelation:
- 2.8″ HVGA LCD
- Qualcomm 528MHz CPU
- 512Mb ROM, 256Mb RAM
- GSM/GPRS/EDGE
- 2MP Camera with auto-focus
- Wireless, microSD, Bluetooth, GPS, etc.
- 1500mAh battery
- 10.3 x 5.4 x 1.34 cm
